Summary/Objective: The Oven Operator position is responsible for setting up and operating equipment that bakes the various products. The position is responsible to ensure that any sub-par product is removed from the line. The position is also responsible for completing all required reporting and quality checks of the product.

Run production properly according to the applicable schedule. Understand burner profiles and recipes. Understand and complete baking process of each product. Make appropriate adjustments to the product as necessary. Properly complete procedures for prescribed quality and food safety checks. Understand the process flow of the assigned ovens, start up and/or shut-down ovens during normal/emergency operating procedures, and possess basic mechanical abilities. Properly and correctly fill out all quality assurance check sheets and other paperwork within the required time frame and make appropriate adjustments when out of compliance. Properly and accurately enter appropriate information into data collection software. Perform start-ups or changeovers to different products and make adjustments/troubleshoot line as necessary. Troubleshoot issues and efficiently run the oven machinery. Complete changeover procedures when necessary, follow proper cleaning procedures on allergen cleanups and allergen control, and adjust band speeds, breakers, wheels, and dampers. Possess basic understanding of math and measurements associated with reading a measuring instrument. Understand, observe, and comply with the handling/usage of color-coded container policy. Must be able to train other team members on process/machinery as necessary. Maintain clean work environment and prepare work area for following shift personnel. Possess thorough understanding of all company policies, including GMPs and safety policies. Communicate effectively with other departments, managers, and other employees. Immediately notify maintenance, line operations or supervision of any repairs or adjustments required. If necessary to use powered industrial equipment, the employee must obtain certification to do so immediately. The employee may have to arrive earlier/later than normal when start-ups or changeovers to different products occur. Check schedule regularly.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, kneeling, twisting, holding, gripping, reaching, pulling, stooping, extensive bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, extensive wrist movements, and climbing all day. Work can be performed in extreme heat and cold environments. Must possess manual dexterity necessary to operate equipment and handle product appropriately. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items weighing 50 pounds above shoulder level. The employee must be able to read, write, and comprehend the English language. The employee must work safely at all times and follow all OSHA (safety) guidelines.


Food Quality, Safety and Security: The employee initiates action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to food safety and the quality of the product, processes, quality or safety system. The employee stops production, if necessary, to correct food safety issues, quality issues, or safety problems. The employee identifies and records any problems relating to food safety, quality of the product, processes, quality system or safety system. The employee controls further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of food safety or quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected. The employee informs line supervisor, production manager, QA manager, or other management personnel of any food safety or quality issues or of any processes which become noncompliant with specified requirements.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, heat, cold, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full?-time position, with rotating days off lasting a minimum of 8 hours and a maximum of 12 hours in most circumstances. The employee must be able to work overtime when required.


Travel: No travel is expected for this position.


Required Education and Experience: High school diploma/GED is required.


Preferred Education and Experience: Two+ years of manufacturing experience is preferred.
